Hi there, Weekend. It’s time for Sweet Little Something – an end of the week morsel that we would love your comments on. It may be a photograph, a link, a poem…some tidbit of inspiration. Leave us a note or create a haiku for a photograph if it takes your fancy. We love hearing from you.

Explanation: Sting Pong.
The New Year’s Eve before last we stayed at my brother and sister-in-law’s house in Culburra (NSW coast). It was one of those nights where family are scattered everywhere – adults drying dishes, teens playing computer games, toddlers and babies resisting sleep. Music blaring, people in corners having earnest conversations, kids on trampolines in the dark, laughter, food, booze. But as it approached midnight everyone seemed to end up in the multi-functional garage / teen hangout / bedroom. Someone suggested Sting-Pong.
What is Sting Pong? Sting Pong is quick-fire Ping Pong with a torturous twist. Basically – someone challenges someone else to a short game of Ping Pong and the first person who misses or doesn’t return the ball is the Loser. Loser has to lift his shirt up over his face and protect his…bits. Winner gets to hit the ball, hard is the general idea, towards Loser’s exposed torso. Apparently it stings. Sometimes it leaves a mark. (I’m telling you all this without first hand experience because I was not about to lift my shirt over my head, even with New Year’s festiveness considered. Nuh huh. It was a male-only tournament.)
That shot was taken of the madding crowd. It’s one of my favourite New Year’s memories and photos.

It’s Ping Pong… and more.
If you think this is too much,
You should come play darts.
Ultimate loser.
Humiliation galore.
The welt tells the tale.
Ha! Darts…hmm..yes….shudder. New Years could get all Hunger Games? 😉
I feel this pair of photos is terribly mismatched. The lilacs apologise for being so tame compared to…sting pong. Lilacs have no backstory. Sting pong, apparently, has quite something of one.
What a vicious world
Cruelty, torture – simply ‘sport’
Thank God for lilacs.
